I too am a constant editor but I also chat with my friends on things like ICQ and Instant Messenger and I find that if I stop to edit I get behind in the chat.....I think that it is understood when we are in here at times and in other places like chats, that the object is communication and not perfection....On actual published works like letters to friends and teacher made tests, there is more time to edit and proofread. If we all became toooooooooo obsessed with caps and punctuation on here, some of us would NEVER be brave enough to step in and offer input to help others because we would be afraid of the criticism of others.
