NOT Cap. & Punct. Police
By What do you think?

Clip to ScrapBook
I was sincerely wondering if I was too intense about capitalization and punctuation -- that's why I asked.

Anne, I certainly would not have asked the question if your post had been the only time I read an entire email
message without capital letters or punctuation. I really wasn't asking my question about you. It was your post, however, that reminded me of how many times I've seen this phenomenon on the net. I am sorry if I offended you because that certainly was not my intent.

I think you, Anne, and the poster after you have explained very well that there are times and places for everything.

After a long, hard day (and believe me I understand) those conventions are not a priority.

It never once entered my mind that you did not know how to use capitalization and punctuation or that you would ever write without using them in front of your students. I just wondered if I was the only person who was feeling way too uptight about such things.

I am a fairly new teacher but not so young a person. Sometimes I see things a little differently than others. I remember when using poor grammar was not an option, and now it's the mode. I guess I just wondered if conventions of our written language would become passe as well.

Anne, I apologize for posting my question right above yours. As soon as I clicked on "Post Message," I wished that I had waited to post it somewhere else. But . . . then it was too late. Sorry.
