NYS 25 Books
By Sharon

Clip to ScrapBook
What I have been doing is having my students take home a book every night. I have a very large personal library. In addition to that I just recived a library of 300 books from the mayor.

I make it clear to my studnts
at the beginning of the year, that they are responsible for bringing the books back in good condition. My students take home a book nightly. They must write a written response to the book. Sometimes I give them specific (generic) qustions. Other times they take home graphic oganizers that I have created just for lierature responses.

In addition to that, they I books (chapter) that

they read indpendently. They are not allowed to record their chapter books in their logs until they have given a written summary of the book.

I am currently working on literture response sheets that they can use after reading their chapter books.

They have been doing a great job so far. By the end of the year they will have read much more than 25 books.

Hope this helps :-)
