I teach fourth grade. I adressed this issue by creating a Reading Bingo card. I set up a grid and filled in the squares with different types of books. Students had to read a combination of books to complete a Bingo on their card. I started with a small grid (3x3), but it could be expanded. I filled it in with things like "Mystery," "Science Fiction," "A book by Beverly Cleary," "A nonfiction book about animals," and "Biography."
