Thanks Julie and RM for responding. You both have great ideas that I will try. I do literacy centers in the morning and that seems to be going pretty well but I was just getting a little frustrated with our transitional
times. I decided to send my second graders with the other second grade classes so I could work with my third graders on spelling (our school is using the Rebecca Sitton spelling program for the first time this year), social studies, science, etc. I do the same when my third graders are out for music. My second graders also go to another second grade teacher for math instruction. We
use Saxon Math and it would be impossible for me to teach both levels at the same time. This really works well for me since my third graders are at grade level or higher but some of my second graders are not at grade level so I find it really necessary to have them alone at times. So no I do not have any prep time !! I rely on my TA a lot to help with preparing my materials. Thank you both again !!
