4th departmentalized

Why would you want to do this with 4th grade? I'm just curious because our school was departmentalized from 4th -8th for many years. We had so many problems!!! This year we finally went back to the 4th and 5th being self-contained and it is great!!! I guess I'm curious about what you dislike about self-enclosed that makes you want to do this with such young children.
