Left Hander By G.M.

I read your post and immediately was reminded of my elementary days! I am left handed. My teachers always got onto me for writing too lightly. When they put my writing on bulletin boards along with other classmates', my| paper looked as though it were blank. You'd have to get right up to it to see that I actually wrote something! I don't know if this is typical of left handers. I don't think so. While getting my degree, I researched left handedness for my senior project. I read loads of books on left handers and never read anything about leftys writing too lightly. My suggestion is to be patient | | with the child. Perhaps you can sit down with him, one on one, and help him come up with a way to remember to begin on the left margin. I am not sure what you can do with his light handedness. I still write that way when I use a pencil. I primarily use pen because of this tendency. Don't make a big deal out of it; sometimes, leftys get teased a lot, even nowadays. Sincerely, G.M.
