Left Hander
By G.M.

Clip to ScrapBook
I read your post and immediately was reminded of my elementary days! I am left handed. My teachers always got onto me for writing too lightly. When they put my writing on bulletin boards along with other classmates', my
paper looked as though it were blank. You'd have to get right up to it to see that I actually wrote something!

I don't know if this is typical of left handers.
I don't think so. While getting my degree, I researched left handedness for my senior project. I read loads of books on left handers and never read anything about leftys writing too lightly.

My suggestion is to be patient

with the child. Perhaps you can sit down with him, one on one, and help him come up with a way to remember to begin on the left margin. I am not sure what you can do with his light handedness. I still write that way when I use a pencil. I primarily use pen because of this tendency.

Don't make a big deal out of it; sometimes, leftys get teased a lot, even nowadays.

Sincerely, G.M.
