unruly students

I struggled with many of these same issues and my frustration level was high. I didn't know how to fix things. I then read a book that was a real eye-opener for me. It was called, "Tools for Teaching", by Fred Jones. He also has a website, fredjones.com. I found so many ways to improve the discipline and structure of my classroom. I saw where I was making mistakes and needed to change my ways. His goal is to keep students on task and to virtually eliminate distracting behaviors. He covers everything from the arrangement of student desks, instruction methods, discipline ideas, and more. It was excellent. Nothing is 100% effective all the time but I think it would be well worth your while to check out this book. It sells for under $30. Hope this helps!
