How long does that take?

My class periods are only 45 mins. long. I feel rushed enough just to cover a small topic and have the kids show some understanding. I don't know if I could have the kids do an actual assignment and grade it together and get anywhere with the curriculum. How long are your class periods? I would love to be able to do that, though. The immediate feedback is very important for kids to really understand the topics.
