I tell my ancillary teachers that I will allow my class to enjoy a reward that they give (5 min extra recess, eat a piece of candy, etc.) and that I will enforce any punishment they give (taking recess, etc.), but that I will not be responsible for discipline in their classes. I make sure they are aware of any information about the kids (on-going messy divorce, ADHD, medical info, etc.) but I do not listen to complaints from either them or the children. They get paid just as much as I do and they need to handle their own classes. I will share discipline strategies if asked, but I won't go to the class with them or keep any of them during that class time unless school policy requires this of all teachers.
