It may sound like a good idea to get "proof" of what your students do throughout the day, but you may want to think twice about this particular idea. Who are you planning on showing this tape to? Parents (yikes)? Administration? Remember, it's not just their behavior that you are capturing for posterity, but yours too! You never know what can come back and bite you. You may wind up defending yourself for any reason at all (that boy was talking in class and you never did anything to him! etc). If you think it would work, try just setting up a camera in the room and run it without a tape in it. It may do the trick, but use it sparingly. In general, cameras are best used to evaluate your own teaching techniques, not the students' behavior. Good luck!
