Videotaped lesson
By Sharon

Clip to ScrapBook
You can do a lesson on creating sensory images while reading. I did my videotape (for NYS also)on the same thing. I began by model creating images. I read a poem by Shel Silverstein (The Dirtiest Man In The World). Then
I had pre-drawn a picture that showed the picture that I created in my mind of "Dirty Dan". I used alot of descriptive words to dedescribe "Dirty Dan". The students and I shared the images they created and I recorded a few.
The students then went into their independent activity. They had to write down all the images that they created under appropriate title on their sensory images
skill sheet. (see, hear, smell, taste, feel) They did this using another Silverstein poem, The Crocodile"s Tooth Ache. Then we came together and shared the images that were evoked.
I did all of this following that time frame that NYS gives you. I felt alittle hurried, but it wnt over well.
Hope this helps! Good Luck.
By the way I pased :-)
