Only one way to find out. By Erika

Try it. I suspect alot of those things will simply burn out if you fire them again. Maybe even leave a yucky mess... I recommend trying it by yourself on something that is just a test tile. Try an upside down T shape _&pip;_ and put your tests ( the paint and stuff you want to try to test make sure everything is well vented too and no one is inhaling fumes) that way it if it gets messy it wont drip on your kiln shelves or ruin anyones work. If you can get your hands on some oxides you would be better off. If you don't mind shelling out 10-20 bucks for your kids I recommend trying to get some wax | | resist and two or three oxides. these are in a powder form (usually for glaze ingredients) You wont need much... they go a long way! If you can get them and the wax you could do some "batik" like stuff. If ya wanna know more send me an email, erikahouse@hotmail.com If you don't mind burning things like sawdust in the kiln you might try this: Try getting one of those metal popcorn tins & punch about 30 nail holes in the sides top and bottom. put in a layer of sawdust and salt (table works fine) then put in a peice or two if they are small enough. If you have any chunks of soft fire brick try stacking a few chunks agianst the peices now cover them completly with sawdust and/or cow poop (sounds funny but it works really well for flashing)now just pack it with peices and sawdust and put the lid on. I'm not sure how hot to tell you to fire it but you want it hot enough that the sawdust starts to burn but not hot enough to desintagrate it. It should give some nice surfaces like I mentioned yesterday then if you get some nice peices with flashing... by some "polycrylic" (walmart has small cans) and mix it about 1 part water to 2 parts polycrylic and just "seal" the surface. These turn out a wide range kinda dull black to absolutely awsome with "marblized" asortment of carbon trappings. More often than not, they turn out really good. Let me hear from you I would Love to hear how things are going
