spelling
By Stephanie

Clip to ScrapBook
We had an in-class activity that seemed to help the students. Each student or group would get scrabble tiles. The only letters that would be on the tiles, would be the ones that they needed to make their specific words.
You could have students rotate around the room, with 2-3 words per station. Then as they got better at the activity, you could add some extra letters that were not needed to make the spelling word. Also something that I did when I was in Elem. school was my teacher would have all of the words on the board. They would be arranged in a funny circle way (diagonal, vertical ect.) Then
she would erase a word while all of our heads were down. We would guess what word she erased. Then we would have to spell it and tell her what it meant. Whoever got it right got to erase the next word and the game went on in that order. I remember that it made me want to learn the words. I do it now.
