I do two things, but I'm teaching second grade. Every Monday, I send the week's homework to parents in my newsletter. Also, on Friday, kids who had completed all assignments get a half hour of Fun Friday, while others catch up on homework.I would stress positive reinforcement for those that do complete homework any way you can. I have no idea what would motivate older kids, but maybe one teacher could hold study hall while another provided a hands on activity while the others were working.
