    Kinder or 3rd

I have taught 3rd grade for the past four years. This year I still teach 3rd grade, but due to scheduling conflicts, I sometimes spend 30 minutes with the kinder class. What I love about 3rd grade is their independence. They can generally follow directions and are able to sit still longer. You can hold their attention longer and don't have to move from one project to the next constantly. However, there are also wonderful things to be said for kinder. They are enthusiastic about anything you want to do, they never roll their eyes as 3rd graders sometimes do. They love to hear a good story, and at least at my school, will sit in your lap to listen. Yes, they are constantly in need of your help. You are always busy and on you toes. As for which is better, I don't know. I had always thought 3rd grade was perfect, but now I am considering a change. I hope my observations help with the decision. Also, if you go to third, next year you will be with the same group as this year.
