I don't get it either
By Tiff

Clip to ScrapBook
It seems some kids just do not understand the concept of doing work and turning it in. I student taught in third grade and found that you can make a list on the board of the assignments kids have to do, and most kids will
get busy and do it, but there are just a few who lack the maturity to understand the concept of being responsible for doing the work and turning it in. I figured this was a primary thing, but now I'm teaching fifth grade and there are still a few kids who consistently don't turn things in. Even things we do together in class get ignored. They lose so many points just because they're
space cadets who can't get it together to be responsible. I tried contacting their parents, and that helped a couple of them, but I still have two or three who can't get it together to do their work. When I have the time I go over to their desks and police them, or look in their backpacks to find their work, but sometimes they just lose the points. I know the sixth grade teachers at my school do not baby the kids like this and that the kids are expected to be responsible for different homework assignments from different teachers. So I figure that I'm preparing them for next year.
