Kindergarten
By alyssa

Clip to ScrapBook
I moved from a grade two class into a full day kindergarten this year and I think it was a mistake. If I was you I would take the grade 3. I find teaching kindergarten very different than teaching grade 1 or 2. I miss
the independence of the grade 2 class.

I don't mind being on my feet all day and tieing all of their shoes. I love singing with them, teaching them and overall they are extremely sweet. What I find difficult is the emergency situations. In an emergancy you are alone, you can't get a student to run to the office or even next door for help. Two years ago one of my grade one students

had a seizure during class. In that situation I was not able to leave the student but I was able to send a bunch of grade one students to the office to get help from the principal. This year I know none of my kindergarten students could do this. I wonder what I would do now if I was in that situation.

Honestly, I was one of those teachers who thought kindergarten was an easy job. I now realize how wrong I was. In my opinion grade three will be an easier transition.
