I teach Kindergarten and I love it!
By Tracy

Clip to ScrapBook
I am a 1/2 day Kindergarten teacher. I have two classes, each with 21 students. I also tought second grade last year. I love Kindergarten, but it is a lot of work, especially for half day. I have to do double the work,
I spend more money, and I have little time to actually teach my kids. (2 1/2 hours) I feel very overwhelmed by the curriculum I have to teach in so little time. I sometimes miss the independence my 2nd graders had, but I do not regret moving to kindergarten. If you do decide to take kindergarten, be aware that you will most likely have to teach them how to tie their shoes, how to hold
a pencil, how to take turns, how to raise their hand, and overall how to follow directions. I am not trying to discourage you from taking Kindergarten, I just want you to be aware it takes a lot of patience and some people will feel you have the "easiest" job. The children are wonderful and I love going to work. In kindergarten there is almost no independent work and you will always be on your feet. I do love teaching kindergarten, but I wanted you to know some of the challenges you will face if you do decide on kindergarten. Hope this helps!
