I teach my whole class 2nd grade phonics and Shurley grammar (level 2). I combine my math lessons and teach them together. For example: first grade has to count by tens (10,20,30,...), second grade also counts by tens (53,63,73,...).
It all goes together. My seconds review and my firsts pick up some new concepts. I have done this for 4 years now and have never had a second grader bored because he 'did it last year'. Reading groups are grouped by grade. I do have difficulty finding time for History, science, and health. Looping these may be easier for you if you are going to have the same students in your

second grade next year that you have in first this year. I do these subjects during my Wed. reading group time rather than my normal reading schedule. Email me if you have any questions and I'll be glad to help if I can.
