I just finished an author study of Bill Peet with my 5th graders. I never knew who that was until this past summer. He wrote Chester the Worldly Pig, The Caboose that got Loose, and so many more wonderful stories that teach a lesson as well as use vocabulary that would challenge a 5th grader. He was an excellent illustrator to boot. We did a powerpoint presentation on him as our culminating activity. We are going to be doing Marc Brown next.
