What a job!
By Crazy!

Clip to ScrapBook

I agree with you completely. Who would've thought it would turn out like this? I went into teaching to teach children, and I feel like most of what I do is just "a bunch of other stuff." Last week we had a textbook
rep presentation on Monday, and Open House/PTO on Tuesday. A peer and I did our lesson planning this Monday after school. Tuesday we had another presentation from a textbook rep. Wednesday morning my students had am intermural team-handball game at 8:00 A.M., and I had a study group meeting after school that is required for our professional development program. Thursday we will have
our grade level meeting after school. Friday? So far it's clear, but I just got an email saying that I have a meeting next Tuesday morning at 7:45! I try to get to school by 7:15 and rarely leave before 5:30. I always take papers home or something to read or study, but sometimes I'm just too tired to take anything out of my bag. On top of everything else, I am frustrated because I require my students to turn in their assignments on time, and I can't even keep up on my own "homework." My husband can hardly stand how much time I devote to getting ready for the next day. It's just one never-ending meeting to attend; form to fill out; deadline to meet; conference to hold; book, article, or memo to read; and pile of papers to grade.

HELP! Is this a crazy profession, or what? It's crazy -- but incredibly worthwhile and rewarding. I love getting paid for doing something I adore -- no matter how minute the amount turns out to be per actual hours worked!

Just call me Crazy!
