Clip to ScrapBook
I read a cute idea in a book I have. It's a skit to introduce persuasive writing. It is a play about a kid trying to persuade his teacher to have recess. At first he just says "please please please" and of course that doesn't work. Then when he comes up with reasons such as good exercise, stress relief, when they come back they will concentrate better, fresh air, etc. it works.
You may be able to use this as a cute, active introduction to the idea that they must convince the reader. I also did a good project last year where we analyzed ceral boxes and showed which ones were trying to convince adults to buy and which ones were geared to kids. Good Luck with your observation!
