Been There
By Teresa

Clip to ScrapBook
Everyone has felt this way as a beginning teacher. You are in a new environment, with new people. It takes approximately a year to warm up to most of them. Some may take less time....but you have to read their emotions.
Are they really complaining or just commenting. You can't assume that they are complaining just because they say they are exhausted. It sounds like you need to look beyond yourself. For all you know, some of the veteran teachers may be fighting cancer and have a reason to be exhausted. I think you are being too hard on them. Teaching school is not a party like college. This is a
professional environment....seek out the positive people. If you are positive they will eventually migrate to you anyway. Just give it time and try to see beyond a person's words. I have changed schools 3 times. It always takes a certain amount of time to make connections, relationships, and friendships.
