You did the right thing

Believe it or not, we are taken for granted and are thought of as not having feelings. There is nothing to do in order to educate this parent in that short time. As the years roll on and you have a chance to see this parent or her other parent friends be as nice and friendly as you can be as if nothing ever happened (it didn't) and you'll see that she might learn and mature about this misconception.
