Mathematics across the curriculum
By Debbie

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi Kate,
You might choose a thematic event, like the ones the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics do each year. They've done a carnival, and another was the Olympics. You might even contact this association to see if there are still copies available (www.nctm.org). We had our kids design events themselves using the Olympics idea, to do with the Kinders. Two of the events were: Discus Throw (Paper plates) to measure distance and a Basket ball toss (hoops of different heights earned different point values)...you could also choose just one math standard on which to focus. NCTM publishes several monthly journals, some with specific focuses and should have back copies. Best of luck. ;-D
