    How about typing up your plan, taking in to your principal, and telling him that this is your best option but that you are concerned about "stepping on toes" if you make such a major change. See what the reaction is. It may be that he feels the teacher needs to change the discipline plan and that you can do a good job of pointing her in the right direction. If nothing else, he will at least know you didn't ignore his request.
