"fifth reading at 1st"
By Tabitha

Clip to ScrapBook
Get some picture books first and use that with them. They can do writing activites and vocabulary activites around the words in the picture books.
You also might try to find real easy chapter books. First have them read
it with you. Then have them respond to the chapters, as well as the picture books, in their reading journals. Come up with comprehensio questions around picture books and chapters books to have them anser. Teach lessons on phonics with them to help try to get them reading a little higher. I have some that read at the beginning of 3rd grade, but not as low as you. I would push as much easy
reading with them as possible. I hope this gives you some ideas. If you need more help feel free to email me. I also teach fifth grade and have as I stated above some real low readers.
