Legally Blind
By Erica

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi Brooke!
My name is Erica and I am Visually Impaired. This is my first year as a teacher and I am enjoying it. I am teaching fifth grade in NJ. I applaude you for going into the field of Education! If your heart
is in the right place, it doesn't matter what kinds of limitations you may have! I do not have any vision in my right eye. I also have very little peripheral vision. There are challenges as I am sure that you are aware of with being Legally Blind/ Visually Impaired and being an Educator. I don't know the extent of your particular vision problem, but if I were you, I would consult your
local Commission for the Blind and Visually Impaired and see what kinds of services are available to you as you go out into the field of Education. I would also take the time to do observations in different school environments and settings so that you get the feel for what you are in for.
I wish you all the luck as you pursue a career in Education. Please feel free to e-mail me if you have any questions. I hope this was some help!
Erica
