Teacher Mentor By Zelda913

| Questions to ponder: Who told you that you would be in line for the Lead Teacher position? How long before the current lead retires? What other information were you given as what you would need to do to be in line for this position? You've been around long enough now to know that gossip is dangerous and shouldn't be spread. Look at the facts as you have been given them from the start, model professional behavior always, and perhaps to make yourself feel a bit more assured, make an appointment with your administrator to discuss the lead position. DO NOT mention any gossip. Talk in a professional manner about your wanting to grow professionally and how you wish to take on more leadership responsibilities. Share what you feel you have to offer in a leadership role and what experience you bring. Ask what your next steps should be in looking toward a lead teacher position. You want to advocate for yourself, but without coming off sounding like you're begging, bragging or overbearing. Good luck to you...
