My favorite is Sylvester and the Magic Pebble. AFter reading it, I have them write down on a slip of paper what they would wish for if they had a magic pebble. Then I take the slips and read them, and see if we can guess who wrote them.
I buy a pack of pretty glass stones from the craft store and hand one out to each child, telling them it is their magic pebble and to make a wish on it. They absolutely love this.
