I really think that your students could understand this book. Have you read it yourself? It is a mystery, as well as a book that looks at the rough side of life, since the main character Stanley ends up in a camp for juvenile delinquents. I am currently a student teacher and have not had the opportunity to read this book to my class, but when I was reading it myself I could not put it down. So definitely give it a try!
