spelling games
By Debbie

Clip to ScrapBook
I play lots of different spelling games with my class. I've done a version of heads up 7up that I've called heads up spell up...it's played exactly like the 7up game except the people who get picked have to spell a word
correctly before they get to guess who picked them

Sometimes we write out our spelling words on small chalkboards or dry erase boards...or on nice days outside on the sidewalk.

A favorite of my studenst is called spell and roll...you need one die...split the class in two teams...go back and forth between the teams...one student rolls the die...and the number rolled is how much their

word is worth...for example roll a 5 spell the word correctly..earn your team 5 points...if they spell it incorrectly you can either subtract that many points or just not award any...the team with the highest score at the end wins!...they LOVE it!

I hope these ideas help! Debbie
