afternoon madness
By Melissa

Clip to ScrapBook
What grade do you teach? This may not be appropriate for your grade...but before I dismiss the students to start getting ready I have them sit on the rug. We go over what they need to remember, and we talk about what we learned.
Then I look for children sitting quietly. I dismiss them first to get backpacks, stack chairs, etc. I continue until all children have been called. After they are finished getting packed up they return to the rug, where I play a game until the bell rings. Since they are sitting and engage in a fun game(like hangman, I spy) and sitting, they are not up running around. Them I dismiss
in groups. First latch key goes. Then I line up the pick-ups. etc. Just a thought. oh.. and I turn off the lights. I found that this calms my kids..not sure why
