end-of-day craziness
By Carolyn

Clip to ScrapBook
This is just so typical of kids of all ages. They just want to get out of school by this time! I guess we all are.

What I do is make sure I allow enough time so that they are not scrambling around like mad. I sign
off early enough so that we are moving in a relaxed pace to get things ready. Also, by giving kids a little more time to get ready, let's say at least 10 minutes, they are less likely to forget things they need.

I start by dismissing the first row to get their things. Then I dismiss the second row. Lastly, I dismiss the third row. I do it slowly enough so that not all rows are scrambling

around at one time. Once first row is back to their seat and packing, then the second row begins, etc.

Once they are back to their seats, I give a point to the first groups which is ready and seated first, including seated quietly. At the end of the week, I give a treat to the quietest and neatest row. Works for me.
