I was at a school in an Appalachian town last year with a younger fifth grade teacher who was the same way. However she was a control freak with no imagination. And, she was too lazy to use workbooks, the poor kids had to| sit there copying page after page of textbooks. And to beat it all, she was paranoid. Locked away in a portable, she would bad mouth the new principal (even writing annonymous notes to her -- which weren't annonymous because she people, who told other people. You gotta admit, it was an exciting story.) She never had her aid help the title one kids. She just didnt' care about them. She | | wouldn't modify lesson plans -- na da.The funny end of the story is that a NEW young teacher who had interned with the new principal (when she was a teacher) came in and did like you, she grew plants, made maps, all sorts of hands on stuff. What happened? Mrs Bleak and Paranoid became REALLY paranoid and started stealing ideas from Wonderful teacher. But, of course, when your heart isn't in it, it just doesn't work. (We all hoped she would leave or get transferred when the school went K-5. But she didn't.) I can't believe that someone so young is so apathetic. BTW, the principal and everyone knows she sent that anonymous letter. We just all think she is TOTALLY NUTS! And we feel very sorry for her students and any biological children she may ever have.
