Frustrated By Casey

I feel your pain. Last year I was getting about 1/4 of the homework assigned back. I had an extraordinarily smart, yet terribly lazy group. I ended up not accepting late work at all. They had to either bring it when it| was due or accept a zero. That improved the situation a little bit. Of course if there was a note from a parent explaining an emergency, then I would accept it. This year, I am accpeting late work. But parents always know about it because it is marked on their weekly behavior checksheet. They also miss "Fun Friday" if they get three checks, so that's a little bit of an incentive. | | For more positive reinforcement, I use tickets: Every time everyone in a group turns in their homework, the whole table gets a ticket to store in their supply box. When they have gathered a certain number, they can redeem for a prize. This is helpful because it uses peer pressure. For some chronic offenders, I have started calling parents. As soon as I find they have not handed in homework, I call them at home or at work or where ever they are and let them know. I figure once they get annoyed enough, they'll finally start making their child do their hw!!! Casey
