read alouds

Clip to ScrapBook
I would also highly recommend Holes as well. I just read the first two chapters to my grade 5 class and they are all begging me to borrow it so they can read it themselves! Actually, any of the Sacher books are recommended. I usually look for any books that have medals or awards as well. My class gets read to at least once a day if not more and I don't always read chapter books. They love picture books too. There are loads of excellent picture books that have advanced themes and messages suitable for even intermediate grades like 7 and 8. Try Patricia Polacco or Eve Bunting books.I guarantee they will love them.
