"Spelling Games"
By LT

Clip to ScrapBook
I teach 2nd grade and I play a game called "Sparkle" with my kids. The absolutely love it. It's a game where the whole class must be paying attention the whole time and they work together. I let them all stand around in
a big circle. I start with one person and give them a word. For example, if the word were dog, the first person would say d, next person o, and next person g, then when the word is over the last person must always say sparkle. (at the end of every last letter of a word) If they miss a letter or say the wrong one, they are out, and then it picks up where it left off, so they must always
be listening or else they don't know what word or letter. Then you just keep going around the circle with all the spelling words. The object I tell my class is to try and see if we can keep the whole class in. I find it works really well.
