my experience
By Michelle

Clip to ScrapBook
I have only had a few experiences with people that were home schooled, but in all cases, they seemed to be behind the regular ed kids of their same age. For instance, we have one girl in our school this year who was homeschooled
for the past three years. She is in 6th grade, and is somewhere around a fourth grade level academically. When I was in high school, we had a brother and sister that had been homeschooled their whole lives until freshman year in high school. They too were way behind, and put in lower and basic skills classes. In addition, they had minimal social skills - and although very nice
individually, had a hard time meeting people due to extreme shyness. I think that people who want to homeschool their children, for whatever reason, need to be certified and licensed - just like a regular teacher.
