i do a pretty cool book report assignment with my third graders...i give each child a "slice" made out of poster board. they each receive a cut-out (i do the cutting) of a piece of pepperoni, a piece of sausage, and a mushroom...on the Pepperoni they write the Plot
on the Sausage they write the Setting
on the Mushroom they write the Main Characters (get it....with the first letters?!)
they then glue the pieces on to their slice, decorate the rest of the slice however they choose, and on the "crust", they write the title, author, and their name. when they turn in their slices, i make a bulletin board (4 slices make a whole pizza) entitled "Bits and 'Pizzas' of a Great Book"!!! hope this helps!! jessica hoffheimer
