I used the title "Groovy Gazette" on the heading of my weekly newsletter. I had a section of the wall titled "The Birthday Bug" where each student colored a VW Beetle (bug) car and I attached each one to a different colored sheet of construction paper for the birthday wall. (One sheet for each month with the students names listed below the car on the month of their birthday) I also had each student color a lava lamp and used those to keep track of discipline issues. For example: The title of the section was "Lava Lamp Out". Each lamp had three "globs" of lava in them. After they were colored, I laminated them. If a student got in trouble, I would cross out the first "glob" of lava and 5 minutes of recess was taken away.... and so on. Kind of like three strikes, you're out. Finally, I cut out some pretty large circles and flower shapes from bulletin board paper in different colors. I then hung these on the walls, in groups of three, kind of overlapping each other. Across each group, I hung a word such as "groovy", "neat", "cool", "love", "peace", etc. Oriental Trading has some neat products in the groovy theme that I am ordering to add to my decorations this year. Hope this helps spark some ideas. Good luck and have a groovy year!
