I'm into my third week and am really hating it!

I am teaching 6th grade in an inner city school and it is a nightmare. My students are just out of control. I have a discipline plan and I follow it tightly, but they just don't care, they even have told me this. They tell me that detentions are fun, etc. I don't know if I can make it through the year. Its really getting to me. I dread each day and I'm even still upset about it during the weekends. I just wonder if it will get better, does anyone have any good discipline tips for me? I need all the help I can get.
