Recess
By Kimberly

Clip to ScrapBook
I agree that you should have recess. If some of the above ideas don't work, incorporate learning into recess. Teach elapsed time and see how many times they can hop up and down in a minute. Don't forget to have them estimate
before they really do it! How many times can they swing back and forth in a minute? Throw a frisbee and measure the distance. Play a spelling game inside where you have 2 lines. You call out the word. The 1st kid from each line runs to the board and writes the 1st letter of the word. The 2nd kid writes the 2nd letter and so on.

You get the idea. The possibilities are endless

AND you are "preparing the kids" for standardized tests! At my old school, we had to make posters with math problems on them to hang around the building so when we went to the restroom with our class, we were not wasting learning time!
