When I started seven years ago, I was 22 with a Master's degree and felt invinsible. I quickly was called an "overachiever" by some of the older teachers at my school and given dirty looks when I didn't complain about things in the teachers' lounge. It seemed to me then that it was me against them, that I had nothing to gain by their years of experience.
How quickly time flew by. I am now a mentor teacher, now having to listen to a 21 year old tell me that they have constructed three interactive websites and other "overachieving" accomplishments.
Enjoy being the youngest. Share your innovative and new ideas but don't hesitate to listen to the experienced teachers. Do this especially when they advise you about the parents and what works with management. Some will always be negative/boring/burnt out... no matter what age. Good luck-- party with people your own age outside of work, but do maintain a social attitude with the various age groups of people in your building. Try to talk about some of the things that may be going on in their lives and you will find that they are much more easy to talk with than you thought.
