I teach on the west coast and I even though I am not physically near what happened, it is really close to home. My oldest daughter's father works at an airforce base and her grandparents leave in NY. She was crying at home and trying to not to cry at school. We as a family gathered together before school to talk about what happened and then joined hands in prayer. We have prayed throughout the day and night together for everyone in this country and everyone around the world.

At my school we were briefed to let the students talk about what happened. I have fourth graders and they wanted to talk about how the problem could be solved. (We have been teaching Second Steps problem solving.) I had a comment about how people hate Americans and I reasurred them that they are just children and are not responible for what has happened. The whole thing is so scary for them and everyone in this world.

I am not sure how I held it together all day. I broke into tears when I got home. Everyone had to keep the cool all day because last was also open house at our school. I will continue my prayers going always for everyone everywhere. I will prayer especially for the children everywhere including yours.
