Have you read Guiding Readers and Writers 3-6 by Fountas and Pinnell? After I read that I want 4 (I'm not kidding!) hours for my language arts block to fit in everything I want to teach and the students and I LOOK FORWARD to the end of the day because they know that's language arts time. I LOVE THAT BOOK! P.S. I know how you feel, I used to feel the same way in my pre-Guiding Readers and Writers 3-6 days.
