k vs 4th

I student taught in 4th grade and was overwhelmed at first, but I turned out to really love them. The work they get is harder, but what I liked was that you could joke around a little with them, and THEY UNDERSTOOD THAT YOU WERE JOKING AROUND. I teach 1st grade now and although my kids are really great and cute, I know that I can't "joke around" like I have done. 4th is an important year, testing, etc. But I agree with the previous response, if your heart is with the little ones, then that's where you should be. Either grade will be exhausting! Good luck!
