losing things
By Julianne

Clip to ScrapBook
We've done a similar thing to the shoeboxes in our classroom. We have tables, so students often mix up their materials. Last year I bought cheap plastic pencil boxes (Walmart 48 cents). We marked each box with a letter
of the alphabet. Everything we put into the box we marked with the same letter. EVERY crayon, EVERY marker, EVERY pencil, well, you get the picture. When I find a pencil on the floor I ask "Who owns the 'D' box?" so it goes back to its rightful owner. Students are very careful with these things because they know who owns them. No one wants to have to use a yucky pair of old scissors,
so they hang onto their good marked pair. This year we added a new twist and made box holders out of fabric that hang on the backs of their chairs. Now their boxes are within reach, but can be put away when we need table space.
