Clip to ScrapBook
In my state, you choose which area for your degree, not a specific grade. I have a B.S. in Elem Ed., my emphasis is K-4 but am certified to teach up to 8th grade. If you choose 5-8 emphasis, you are certified 1-8. There is also a K-12 degree and an Early Childhood K-3 only. If you like younger children then I would go for whatever your state offers in Elementary Ed. certification. I like the fact that I have a wide range to choose from and would have taken any job to get my foot in, but I like the younger grades, that's why I chose that emphasis. I taught preschool for nine years before going back to get my degree and teach third grade now. I love it!
